Change of Mass Times for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday

Sunday Morning Mass times for BOTH weekends; Palm Sunday & Easter Sunday, will be: 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12:00 Noon. Have you ever noticed how crazy it is to get everyone safely in and out of the parking lot for these Masses? Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to get everyone in and out of Church within a few minutes time on these weekends? Have you ever noticed how challenging it can be to just get a seat in Church at these Masses? Well……..We are hoping to alleviate these problems with the change of Mass times. Saturday night Palm Sunday Mass will remain at 5:00 p.m. Saturday night Mass for the EASTER VIGIL will begin at 8:30 p.m. (no 5:00 p.m. Mass). So….. put this on your calendar, and tell all your friends and family… Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday Masses will be 8 – 10 – 12.

Diocese Weather Policy

Diocese weather policy: Whenever a county/city within the Diocese of Toledo is placed under a Level 3 Snow Emergency, during which all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel, the Catholic Churches within that geographic region will cancel the scheduled Saturday Vigil, Sunday, or Holy Day Masses. Roman Catholics in that region, therefore, are dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass. If Masses are cancelled, Catholics are encouraged to participate in Holy Mass via television, radio, or internet, making a spiritual Communion. When Mass is cancelled, all other diocesan, parish, or school events in that geographic region are also cancelled.

School Bell Memorial

A year ago in the spring St. John’s had some repairs made to the school roof, chimneys and cupola. We were aware that the school bell no longer was hung in the cupola, so we asked the contractor if they would bring it down for us. They did. The bell was rusted and covered in paint & roofing spray. Since that time, we have been contemplating where and how to display the bell to honor this historic icon of St. John’s Catholic School. Between the ingenuity of Terry Murnane & Larry Birkemeier, a vision for the bell memorial was set in place. This last week it all came together.

St. John’s Catholic School bell is inscribed on the inside of the bell with the date 10-14-16, that is 1916 of course. If you check the cornerstone on the school, you will see that the building was built in 1914. There will be a plaque placed on the memorial with the date of the bell until the closing of the building as a school in 2008. Please stop by and see this historical icon of St. John’s Catholic Church and School.   Thank You to Terry & Larry for a job well done good and faithful servants!
